Supervision Studio helps you track your development across all BACB-required competency areas throughout your supervision experience. This systematic tracking ensures you're building skills in all required domains and provides documentation for your certification application.
Why Track Competencies?
Competency tracking helps ensure you're developing skills across all required areas, not just focusing on areas you encounter most frequently in your work setting.
TCO6 Task List
The BACB's Task List (6th Edition), commonly called TCO6, defines the knowledge and skills required for BCBA certification. Supervision Studio organizes competency tracking around these official categories.
Competency Areas
TCO6 includes the following major sections:
Section A: Foundations
Philosophical underpinnings, concepts, and principles of behavior analysis

Tracking Progress
Supervision Studio provides multiple ways to track your competency development:
Linking to Hours
When logging supervision hours, you can tag which competency areas were addressed:
- Create or edit a supervision hour entry
- Scroll to the Competency Areas section
- Select the TCO6 sections addressed during that session
- Add optional notes about specific tasks covered
- Save the hour entry
Pro Tip
Try to address multiple competency areas in each supervision session. This helps ensure balanced development across all required skills.
Competency Dashboard
View your overall competency progress from the dashboard:
- Go to your main Dashboard
- Find the Competency Progress widget
- View progress bars for each TCO6 section
- Click any section to see detailed task-level progress
Supervisor Verification
Supervisors can verify competency attainment during monthly attestations:
Monthly Review
During monthly attestation, supervisors review competencies marked and can add their assessment of skill level.
Verification Levels
Supervisors can mark competencies as: Introduced, Developing, Proficient, or Mastered.
Progress Over Time
Track how your competency ratings improve throughout your supervision experience.
Competency Reports
Generate competency reports for certification applications:
- Go to Reports from the main menu
- Select Competency Summary
- Choose the date range (typically full supervision period)
- Generate and download the PDF report
The competency report includes:
- Summary of hours per competency area
- Supervisor verification ratings
- Observation notes related to each competency
- Timeline of skill development
